Sweet Something
Ideas & Inspiration
Location played a big part in table design for Arizona bride Laura Wentworth, whose wedding was held in La Jolla, Calif. “Venue is the first thing that states and sets the tone for décor,” says Jodee Dominici, Laura’s wedding designer and owner of Details by Dominici. Wentworth spent her childhood summers at the beaches in La Jolla and she and her fiancé decided to get married there. Because of space constraints, their outdoor location needed to serve as the setting for both the ceremony and reception. To create an intimate site that fulfilled both roles, Dominici used long Roman-style tables and turned Chiavari chairs toward the bridal couple as they exchanged vows. Dominici also worked with designer Melissa Lewis, owner of Table Tops, Etc., to pull together Laura’s favorite colors, flowers and linens for the perfect tablescape.
The outdoor setting complemented the bride’s choice of a light, summer palette of pinks and creams, creating a relaxed, breezy atmosphere. Lewis cut up pale green placemats and sewed them into square sleeves that fit over several centerpiece vases, adding texture and variety and giving the arrangements a finished look. She also filled the bottoms of the clear square vases with sand and river rock and complemented the flora with linens in shades of brown and pink to give the setting a beach feel.
