Special Treatment
Ideas & Inspiration
Go beyond the pre-wedding facial and give your whole body a little TLC before the big day. Whether you want to trim a few inches, smooth your skin or plump your lips, these results are just a few treatments away.
Love Your Body
Arizona bride Amanda Iniguez chose Suddenly Slimmer Wellness Center and Day Spa in Phoenix to help her trim inches off her waistline before her February 2009 wedding. A wellness center and day spa specializing in beautifying body and mind, Suddenly Slimmer offers a variety of procedures, from body wraps and cellulite treatments to relaxing massages and nail services.
“With more than 75 treatments to choose from, we’re a one-stop shop for beauty, wellness and medspa procedures,” says spa director Jana Marcelino. “We can help [brides] feel beautiful and relaxed, inside and out.”
Iniguez chose a series of SlenderTone Body Wraps. She lost 12 inches with the first treatment and more than 20 inches all together. “It gives you a little edge when you’re putting on your wedding dress,” she says. Iniguez also selected bronzing for her bachelorette party, a manicure and pedicure, waxing, eyelash extensions and a massage to unwind.
Freshen Your Face
“Your face is the presentation to the world,” recent bride April Miller says. Miller wanted to go all-out for her special day. “I wanted it to be the fairytale my life had become,” she says.
In April 2007, more than a year before her wedding, Miller visited Susan Van Dyke, M.D., a board-certified dermatologist in Paradise Valley, specializing in cosmetic dermatology. In the months and weeks before her wedding, Miller chose to have a series of treatments: Botox, lip fillers, Intense Pulse Light (IPL) photo rejuvenation and chemical peels that helped remove years of sun damage, including sun spots and scarring.
“Honestly,” Miller says, “Dr. Van Dyke has taken 15 years off my face with these treatments.”
Bride-to-be Megan Hazelton also visited Dr. Van Dyke several months before her wedding. “I had some acne spots and old acne scars,” Hazelton says. They decided on a chemical peel and blue light therapy to clear up existing acne and any discolorations from old scars. Besides the excellent results, Hazelton was pleased with the center’s helpful attitude. “Dr. Van Dyke is great. She’ll sit down with you on a one-to-one level and tell you what she thinks, and go through the options.”
“The rewards are huge,” says Van Dyke. “It really makes a difference in the way brides see themselves."
