Sit Back and Relax
Ideas & Inspiration
Roughly 5,500 years ago, Native Americans inhabited an area in what is now Tucson’s far east side. Eventually this special spot was named Agua Caliente (“hot water”) by the Spanish for the naturally warm spring water filling three large ponds. In 1873, a ranch and health resort was created to tap into the springs’ healing power. Since then, southern Arizona has flourished with spas and health resorts dedicated to improving health and well-being. Today, these resort spas provide unsurpassed service, along with numerous fine amenities.
Canyon Ranch
Canyon Ranch in Tucson’s northeast foothills is the flagship prototype that inspired the modern U.S. destination-spa trend. Open since 1979, visitors travel from around the world to spend days and even weeks at Canyon Ranch. Brides who don’t have a week to spend can take advantage of a “Spa Day” ($275), which includes one spa treatment, such as an indulging full-body massage, up to a $120 value, plus lunch and access to the Health & Healing Center’s amenities, exercise classes and Life Enhancement Center classes. Spa Day reservations must be made one month in advance.
Miraval Tucson
Miraval Tucson, in its serene Santa Catalina Mountains setting, has a well-deserved reputation for excellence. Massage and hydrotherapy suites, Asian-inspired body treatments, acupuncture and Shiatsu are only a few of Miraval’s 100 enticing treatment options. Miraval offers the “Bachelorette Package” ($399 per person per night), which is sure to spoil the bride and her bridal party.
