Romantic Moments
Ideas & Inspiration
"Brides are getting more creative,” says Victoria Canada, wedding consultant and owner of Victoria Canada Weddings & Events. “They’re using different types of paper products to create menu cards and seating cards, linens with textures and graphic patterns, and lighting elements such as LED lights in floral arrangements.” Together with her business partner, Kelly Gill of Bright Event Gallery, Canada designed a fun tablescape at their gallery in Scottsdale, and introduced new uses for everyday items. They wrapped books in different types of white wrapping paper, added sparkle with draped jewelry from Designs by Claudia, and used a variety of glassware, including frosted champagne glasses they picked up at the dollar store.
To create a lively monochromatic look, mix and match shapes, textures and patterns of varying shades. Canada and Gill introduced clear glass in a variety of elements, including a glass centerpiece filled with clear marbles, martini glasses, frosted champagne flutes and votives. Instead of adhering to one shade of white, they used a variety of hues, including off-white seating cards designed by Page & Mason that look like they were pulled from a library’s old-fashioned card catalog, and off-white chocolates created by Julia Baker Confections. Using metallic colors such as silver or gold provides a formal air; for their look, Canada and Gill draped their centerpiece of gift-wrapped books with silver and pearls.
