New Wedding Dress Shops: IrisD Bridal and Nordstrom Wedding Suite

A bride’s gown is the fashion centerpiece of a wedding, and brides in the Valley of the Sun now have two new places to discover the dress of their dreams: IrisD Bridal in Tempe, and Nordstrom Wedding Suite in the Scottsdale Fashion Square Nordstrom.

Manager Kristen Barker of IrisD Bridal emphasizes that her store specializes in custom-designed gowns from $200 to $3,000. “We believe a wedding dress is an extension of a bride’s personality,” says Barker, who is also the store’s in-house designer, should a bride want to start from scratch. “Our styles range greatly, from simple classics to glamorous couture and everything in between.”

IrisD also allows brides to rent gowns and accessories— a helpful option for couples with weddings right around the corner. The store can also help brides customize their veil and jewelry. Brides who want to save their outfit for future generations can check out the store’s gown storage and preservation services.

Nordstrom aficionados will welcome the decision to focus wedding-related items into Wedding Suites like the Scottsdale location; it’s one of 18 suites that opened in 2010 and 2011, according to Min Park, national wedding stylist director for the department store.

“For years, customers have been turning to our stores and Nordstrom.com for their wedding needs,” she says. “Positive feedback led us to formalize our approach. Our multi-category selection allows us to wardrobe the bridal party from head to toe.”

The suites offer capsule collections by designers such as Notte by Marchesa, Milly, Kate Spade and Trina Turk. Beyond the gown itself, brides can shop for shoes, handbags, lingerie and wraps.

Bridesmaid accessories and dresses are also available. Wedding Suite locations are open by appointment only. Price points for Nordstrom’s merchandise ranges from $98 for a bridesmaid dress to $2,000 for a bridal gown.
