Couples seeking a destination wedding with Old World charm need look no further than San Tan Valley on the southeastern edge of the Phoenix metro area. Encanterra, a Trilogy Country Club, is offering complete wedding services at its brand-new 60,000-foot clubhouse, La Casa at Encanterra, which is patterned after a traditional Mediterranean village.
La Casa welcomes visitors with warm tan and earth-tone exteriors. A network of covered and open patios on the north side is connected by cheery stone and brick walkways. This social area, known as La Plaza, boasts a number of outdoor fireplaces, gorgeously lit trees and tiled fountains.
Couples can get married on a spacious lawn overlooking the par-72, Tom Lehman-designed golf course, with the majestic San Tan and Superstition mountains as a backdrop that blazes with color during sunset ceremonies. An adjacent lawn can serve as a convenient and beautiful reception site. Another option is to pair an outdoor ceremony with a reception in the Mallorca Event Center, which houses a ballroom accommodating up to 200 guests and state-of-the-art audiovisual equipment. Disappearing “nano” doors in the ballroom can open for both patio and ballroom mingling. Brides and grooms will also find spacious, well-appointed dressing rooms at the center.
Rehearsal dinners can be hosted at The Vault, a private wine cellar for country club members or in La Cocina, a professionally equipped demonstration kitchen that can seat up to 50. Another option is The Chef’s Table, a glass-walled dining area inside the kitchen of Bistro 1528, Encanterra’s primary restaurant.
According to Frank Schneider, director of catering and special events at Encanterra, many brides who have booked La Casa for weddings are opting for reception menus that emphasize culinary stations, including choices such as scallop martinis and a shu mai dumpling station. Buffet and plated menu options are also available.
Couples do not have to be members of Encanterra to book their wedding at La Casa. Golf and spa packages are currently being developed, says Schneider, who notes that round-trip transportation between the country club and select local hotels can be arranged. 37449 N.
