Fake Wedding Bouquets
Ideas & Inspiration
Q. I’ve heard that some brides carry fake bouquets of wrapping paper and bows down the aisle during the rehearsal. I’m not quite that crafty but still want something to hold. Any ideas?
A. How about a personalized bouquet of vellum paper petals on which your friends and family have written warm wishes? Petal Wishes, by local artist Michelle Eier, is a new “floral” concept enhancing the bridal shower and wedding rehearsal process.
The idea is this: At a bridal shower or other pre-wedding event, guests can pen a short note for the bride and groom on small pieces of vellum. Eier takes those pieces and combines them into a bouquet that the bride can carry down the aisle during the rehearsal. The bouquet can reflect the colors of the wedding or match the bride’s rehearsal attire. Eier uses a variety of materials—tulle, silk, felt, ribbons, buttons—and each arrangement is custom-designed. She can also create a boutonnière for the groom to wear during the rehearsal.
After all is said and done, Petal Wishes can also mount the bouquet in a shadow box for the bride and groom to hang in their home as a daily reminder of the wishes and love from their friends and family.
