Forget 31 flavors—Gelato 64, which specializes in Italian-recipe ice cream that’s typically richer and denser than its American cousin, offers more than twice that number.
    Couples seeking a healthful alternative to a wedding cake will be happy to know that gelato contains two-thirds less milkfat than traditional ice cream. They might also take comfort in the fact that the price of a gelato bar can be 30 to 50 percent lower than the cost of a wedding cake, according to owner Vincent Chan.
    Couples who offer a gelato bar at their reception may select up to 12 flavors, although most order six to eight, Chan says. The Chandler-based store’s No. 1 favorite is double fudge chocolate brownie, but it also offers unique flavors such as almond and fig, and mascarpone with honey, and continues to produce new flavors each month.
