High Def Makeup
Ideas & Inspiration
Q. My videographer is shooting in high definition. Should I do anything different with my makeup so that I look great on film?
A. HD filming catches detail, which is great unless it’s that subtle blemish your makeup was supposed to conceal. Arizona makeup artist Allison Pynn recommends seeing an aesthetician before the wedding to start a skin care regimen that works for you.
Ultimately, if it fits in the budget, Pynn recommends hiring a professional makeup artist who has experience working with HD. Without proper make-up application you could end up looking older, your pores look larger and you could look like you’re wearing too much make-up,” Pynn says. Be sure to check arizonabridemag.com to see what our expert panel of photographers had to say about the common hair and makeup mistakes they see.
Pynn also offers a few tips for flawless make-up the day of the wedding:
1. Apply a pore/line filler to mask wrinkles and fine lines.
2. Cover under-eye circles with concealer.
3. Wear a light layer of foundation or tinted moisturizer; in HD, thick foundation can look caked.
4. Blend, blend, blend! HD will pick up where one shade starts and the other begins.
5. Apply mascara carefully and cleanly to avoid any clumps or sticky lashes.
6. Be careful with blush. It should appear to be coming through the skin, not sitting on top.
