Krista & Kelby

Nov. 7, 2009 at Bentley Gallery in Scottsdale

Krista Rasmussen’s and Kelby Agnew’s mothers set them up—for a haircut. Kelby needed a trim, and his mom suggested her friend’s daughter for the gig; three months after that auspicious appointment, the two were engaged on a Maui beach. The laid-back couple sought a cool yet intimate venue for their November wedding and decided on Scottsdale’s contemporary Bentley Gallery, though it was impossible to know which artist would be showing during their celebration. The exhibit turned out to be graffiti works by artists DOSE and Hector Ruiz, which filled the industrial space with color; the bride and groom simply added candles, along with floral arrangements by a family friend. The party was as exuberant as the artwork; 130 guests danced all night to a DJ’s tunes, worked their way through a buffet of comfort food, and packed the photo booth.
