Kara & Sean

High school sweethearts Kara Fridrich and Sean Mutchnick fell in love with Sedona years ago when they visited from suburban Detroit; they fell even further for the red-rock environs when Sean proposed to Kara on a hike overlooking Cathedral Rock. The couple hunted for a Michigan wedding venue, but ultimately, nothing compared to their favorite Southwestern town; so 70 guests (plus the couple’s Chihuahua, Charlie) made the trip for a multicultural celebration that merged Kara’s Korean heritage with Sean’s Jewish faith. The couple wed under a chuppa made by a relative, in a ceremony officiated by the groom’s brother. During the reception, also at Tlaquepaque, guests dined at tables decked out with doilies Kara had collected and stitched together, and vintage Arizona postcards on which guests were encouraged to write well wishes for the couple. Later, the bride’s parents gifted the newlyweds with a pair of wedding ducks, a Korean symbol of marriage.
