Bethany & Karl

Apr. 18, 2009 at a private residence

When Bethany Erickson first noticed Karl Meister at the bar where he worked, she was too shy to talk to him. After spending two months “spying” on him every Wednesday night, Bethany asked him out. The engagement was just as clandestine, as Karl popped the question to an unsuspecting Bethany on a boat in the middle of a Wisconsin lake. Their vintage- and garden-inspired ceremony, held in her brother’s backyard, was more straightforward. The goal: A focus on family and friends with a relaxing, intimate vibe. Mission accomplished, with candlelit star lanterns, a signature cocktail, and vintage flower vases. The couple kept things lighthearted with a groomsmen’s cake in the shape of an ear of corn to honor Karl’s Iowa roots, and break-dancing by the groom. The cutest touch? Flower girl Dylan, the couple’s two-year-old daughter.
